Beal Racing is a NHRA nitro race team founded by Chuck Beal and owned by second-generation drag racers, Brandon Welch and Tyson Porlas. Through much of its 50-year history until 2018, Beal Racing was known for fielding funny cars. In 2019, the team switched to the other professional nitro class, Top Fuel, to face a new group of competitors.
The team’s 11,000 horsepower nitromethane-fueled top fuel dragster is capable of traveling from a standing start to 330 mph in under four seconds. Exceeding four G’s of force under acceleration, top fuel dragsters are the fastest accelerating vehicles on the planet.
Beal Racing is a family operation founded when Chuck Beal built his first souped-up street car in 1962. Chuck passed along his passion for racing and hard work to grandsons, Brandon Welch and Tyson Porlas. Welch, a charismatic fan favorite, drives the race car while Porlas and a team of skilled mechanics completely rebuild the racing engine after every pass down the drag strip.
Beal Racing can be seen competing with the world’s best on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series on Fox network and Fox Sports 1.
